Waivou Village in Rewa, one of the most selected cultural shore excursions for cruise visitors in Suva, has been awarded a grant through the Pilot Tourism Micro and Small Enterprises Fund to renovate and upgrade its community hall. This facility plays a central role in welcoming guests who choose the Waivou Village Experience, offering an authentic glimpse into Fijian culture, traditions, and hospitality.

The funding will allow the community to improve visitor areas, upgrade amenities, and create a more engaging environment for cultural performances, storytelling, and craft demonstrations. These enhancements will ensure that guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable experience while directly supporting the preservation of Fijian traditions and the livelihoods of the Waivou community.

The Waivou Village Experience is designed to provide cruise guests with a genuine cultural encounter. Visitors can participate in traditional activities, witness Fijian music and dance performances, and learn about the village’s history and way of life. By upgrading the community hall, Waivou Village will be able to host more visitors safely and provide an even richer cultural experience.

Through the Pilot MSME Fund, the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation continues to collaborate closely with community leaders, local suppliers, and cultural practitioners.
