Momi Gunsite & Shopping Tour
Your outing begins as you board your air-conditioned motor coach and enjoy a 90-minute journey, travelling past residences and villages and through sugarcane plantations to the Momi gun site. Nestled among the sugarcane fields, this now-silent gun battery provides a window into the past. In 1941, with World War II raging throughout the Pacific, the Fiji Islands, like most Pacific Island nations, were vulnerable to Japanese attack. If captured, Fiji would be the perfect staging area for incursions into New Zealand and Australia. Today, the Momi Battery is in the care of the National Trust of Fiji Islands and represents a proud period in Fiji’s history. After the Gun site tour, then head to Nadi Town Center for souvenir shopping before your return to Denarau Pier.
