Journey along the delightful coast road to visit Nukubalavu Village (pronounced Nookoo-m-bar-lar-voo), home of the Tui Nasavusavu, paramount chief of Savusavu.
Guests will be greeted by the village elders and invited to witness and participate in a yaqona (kava) ceremony where the powdered kava is mixed with water and presented in a ‘bilo’ (coconut cup) to those who wish to taste this ceremonial drink.
Kava ceremonies take place at all important Fijian occasions. Following the ceremony guides will take guests on a tour of the village where they will experience the warmth of the Fijian people. Enjoy entertainment including dancing and singing.
During the tour, mingle with the villagers and their children learn more about their culture and see them work at their traditional crafts. Finished handicrafts will be available for purchase. During the tour, guests will enjoy a refreshing drink of “bu” (green coconut juice).
