Visit the village of Sabeto, where giants of men once roamed. The chiefs and the people of Sabeto used to own almost half of Viti Levu, indicating that they were strong warriors. Joji was one of the last warriors who remained undefeated as a wrestler until his death 6 years ago. The Sleeping Giant mountain was the training ground for theSabeto warriors. You will be escorted by your hosts to the village hall for a traditional welcome ceremony followed by cultural entertainment. You will then be taken on a guided tour around the village, visiting the chief’s bure, church and the primary school. Get first-hand experience with the daily routine of the native Fijians and learn the many uses of plants and their uses. Tree planting is optional and is a positive contribution to minimising the effect of global warming.

Things to bring

Recommended Dress code shorts/skirts and Polo or T-shirts, something cool. Bring along your cameras and currency for those who may want to shop or purchase souvenirs. Ladies with short skirts/ shorts may carry a sarong with them for the village visit & wearing caps/hats are not allowed in the village.

Expectations: Expect a moderate amount of walking, 2-3 hours of walking each day. There will be time to rest on the coach and between attractions. To enjoy this tour, you should be prepared to walk slightly longer distances, climb stairs and tolerate periods of standing, for example on city walks, sightseeing stops or ship excursions. The daily pace and timing can fluctuate significantly between longer and shorter travel days, with additional activities possibly occurring in the early morning or evening. There may be some changes in altitude or temperatures.
