Queen's Highway, Dratabu Village, Sugar Cane Plantations Your tour begins with a scenic, approximately 50-minute drive to Dratabu Village. En route, enjoy the scenic beauty along the Queen's Highway, first traveling through the city and then past fertile sugar cane plantations. Kava Ceremony, Village Walking Tour, Meet the Local Families, Singing & Entertainment Your arrival at Dratabu Village is welcomed with a traditional kava ceremony. Accorded to chiefs, this ceremony typically involves the preparation of the traditional kava drink made from the root of a cultivated plant, the piper methysticum, which is pounded into a powder and mixed with water. With kava as the main ingredient, the beverage is thought to have medicinal properties, including elief of anxiety and improvement of sleep. Following the kava ceremony, take a guided walking tour through the village and meet the local families, then return to the Village Hall for local songs and entertainment performed by the village men. Dratabu Public School, Farewell Song, Nadi Town, Hindu Temple. Next, proceed to the Dratabu Public School for a short tour and an opportunity to meet the schoolchildren. Before you leave, you are regaled with a farewell song by the schoolchildren and village ladies. Leaving the village, re-board your coach and head to Nadi Town for a photo stop and short tour of the largest Hindu Temple in the Southern Hemisphere. Following your visit, your tour concludes with an approximately 40-minute drive back to the pier.
