Colors of Fiji

Colors of Fiji

Spend a morning immersed in a local art studio that has a celebration of Fijian culture, colour and environment at its heart! Our two-hour curated session starts with a short presentation about our creative journey and a tour of our gallery space. You will find out some of the back stories behind the Fiji-inspired artwork we create and discover how the traditional bark cloth we paint on is hand-crafted by village-based heritage artists. It will then be time to roll up your sleeves and create some art of your own! With guidance from our team of friendly, enthusiastic artists, you will explore some of the signature techniques we use at Sigavou Studios. This will involve stenciling patterns onto a piece of barkcloth using dyes made from mangrove sap, or blending our vibrant, acrylic paints to create an eye-catching, island-vibe art piece or a colorful tote bag to take back home with you. For those that finish early, our inhouse mural team will be delighted to hand you a paint brush, so that you can add your own colours to the large collaborative murals we are creating for a local orphanage and other community- based settings in need of some joy-filled art. In between all the action, there will be time for light refreshments, informal photos shoots, and a chance to shop for souvenirs – or your very own piece of Fijian art.
