Sabeto Village Cultural Experience

Visit the village of Sabeto where giants of men once roamed. The chiefs and the people of Sabeto used to owned almost half of Vitilevu, indicating that they were strong warriors. Joji was one of the last warriors who remained undefeated as a wrestler until his death 6 years ago. The Sleeping Giant mountain was the training ground for the Sabeto warriors. You will be escorted by your hosts to the village hall for a traditional welcome ceremony followed by cultural entertainment. You will then be taken on a guided tour around the village visiting the chief’s bure, church and the primary school. Get first-hand experience about the daily routine of the native Fijians and learn the many uses of plants and its uses. Tree planting is optional and is a positive contribution to minimizing the effect of global warming.

Expectations: Expect a moderate amount of walking, 2-3 hours of walking each day. There will be time to rest on the coach and between attractions. To enjoy this tour, you should be prepared to walk slightly longer distances, climb stairs and tolerate periods of standing, for example on city walks, sightseeing stops or ship excursions. The daily pace and timing can fluctuate significantly between longer and shorter travel days, with additional activities possibly occurring in the early morning or evening. There may be some changes in altitude or temperatures.
